It depends upon what date(s) you are talking about. Water Valley has been a part of Calhoun, Lafayette and/or Yalobusha counties. When my gg-grandfather lived there, it was Calhoun. Harriet
Sorry, but Water Valley, located about 9 miles west of the Calhoun county line, has never been in Calhoun County. Water Valley straddled the Lafayette/Yalobusha county line until 1872 when a portion of Lafayette County was given to Yalobusha by the Mississippi State Legislature to satisfy the request of the Mississippi Central Railroad for taxation purposes. Calhoun county was formed in 1852 from parts of Yalobusha, Lafayette and Chickasaw counties. Source: Map Guide to the U. S.
