Bill, Would you mind checking the will and probate court records indexes for the name McCain. My McCain's moved to Lafayette County from Berrien County, GA in the 1840' s. I do not know if they moved b/c other family members were there but the will/probate records could provide a clue. Also, we believe my ggggrandfather's mother may have died there as she was with them in GA in 1840 and was not with them on the 1850 census in Lafayette. (although I guess it is possible she died en route.) Anyway, if you have a free moment sometime, the lookup would be much appreciated. Denise [email protected]
