Edmund Gilstrap and Mary E. (Hanson) Harper were married in Lafayette, Mississippi 2/27/1881. Edmund was a widower; he had 5 grown children by first wife Mary Crow. Mary E. (Hanson) Harper had one son, Lewis Harper, b. abt 1870. Together, Edmund and Mary E. (Hanson) Harper had 3 more children: Joseph Washington Gilstrap, Enoch Gilstrap, and Sarah (Sally) Gilstrap [my grandmother]. They moved to Texas about 1893. Edmund died in 1894; Mary E. died in 1895, and the 3 children went to an orphanage. I'm looking for any information about Mary E. (Hanson) Harper and Lewis Harper. I know Lewis came with them to Texas and died in Dallas, TX abt 1941. I don't know anything about Mary E.'s parents, siblings or first husband. Some cemetery restorers in Comanche Co., TX just found Mary E.'s unmarked grave. I'd love to find out her birth date and other information so her grave could be properly marked and recorded in their local history book. I don't know which county in MS any of the children were born in; I just know this couple married in Lafayette County. Any information or clues greatly appreciated. Vicki Hill
