When I discovered that the David F. Smith family lived in the Harmontown Community, I went back to the Harmontown Baptist Church Cemetery and I do find information on this man. I guess it was too early when I was looking earlier this morning! Source for these records is Lafayette County, Mississippi, Cemetery Records, Volume 1, compiled by Skipwith Historical and Genealogical Society, 1978 Harmontown Baptist Church Cemetery (page 158) Location: Northwest Lafayette County in Harmontown Community just off Highway 310. S24 T6S R4W The Smith names are on page163: Smith, David Frank, b 25 January 1882, d. 26 October 1967 I do not see Ada L. or Lee A If his mother was Virginia, there is this information: Smith, Virginia Elizabeth, wife of H. L., b. 26 February 1848, d. 10 September 1926. Smith, Henry L., born in Newberry Dist., S. C., b. 26 February 1835, d. 20 June 1903. (NOTE: in my mother's (Sybil Metts Hill) handwriting is a note that he was the son of Spiva and Martha.) They are also buried in this cemetery. Smith, Spiva, b. 27 June 1811, d. 24 February 1872 (handwritten note: 'b. S.C.") Smith, Martha, wife of Spiva, daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Kinard, b. 9 October 1815, d. 27 June 1866. (handwritten note: "b. S.C.") There are other Smith's--listed as children of H. L. and also another wife: Smith, Cornelia Ann, wife of H. L., daughter of Allen and Lavinia Smith, b 6 April 1843, d. 8 October 1871. The Martha Kinard Smith mentioned is the sister of my 2nd great grandmother, Mahala Ann Kinard, who married Adam Metts. That is how my mother knew that the families came to Mississippi from Newberry County, S. C. Hope this helps even more. Let me know if you have specific other names that I can look for.
