The Gardner name, (which has many different spellings) is listed in my father's family ancestry. A lot of West Virginians (Virginia prior to 1863) moved to Kentucky, and still do so. Ohio is another state to check out. These states were hunting grounds and home for many Native American Indians as well as frontiersman.
