    3. Merry Christmas, Sandra. This cold winter morning I'm enjoying a hot cup of coffee and cleaning out my inbox. Several weeks ago I changed internet service providers and my mail got all mixed up when I imported it from MSN to SBC/Yahoo, and I'm still working on straightening it up, answering as many as I can. Yours came up this morning, with no indication that I"ve ever responded. Please accept my apology for this delay. I've looked through my material for Robert SHEEGOG, assuming you are referring to the family's presence in Lafayette Co., MS, and found one possibility in the 1870 census. Specifically there is a family in Oxford, Census page 625, family # 168: Shegog (sic), R. B. 24 M W Farmer 12,000 1,000 MS L. M. 22 F W H. K. MS C. M. 4 F W MS A. M. 1 F W MS This info indicates that the above couple married before 1866, so I checked the marriage abstracts. Sure enough, in marriage bond book 2, page 176 there is the entry for; Robert B. Sheegod & Lucy M. Jones, 22 February 1866; J. G. Pickett, minister of the gospel officiated. Going back to the 1860 census, which I have only in transcribed form and don't know the page number or community in which they lived, you will find at family # 1317: Robt. Shegog 59 M Farmer 75,000 110,000 Ireland Mary 52 F SC James 24 M Merchant 3000 35,000 TN Susan 18 F TN Robt 15 M MS Mary 12 F MS My index to the 1850 census shows a Shegog family in Lafayette Co.
