Census you quoted: Thomas Cobb Head of Household; Emma Cobb wife, age 25 bn MS parents bn Al. John Dotson ; FATHER-IN-LAW, this is Emma Cobb's father if he is father-in-law to Thomas Cobb who was head of household. Emma must have been bn. in 1855 if she was 25 on the census you quoted. So, now, you have her father's given name as John Dotson/ Dodson so look in the 1860 MS census for him and you should find a 5 year old Emma which is your second source for proving relationship. There was no such thing as death certificates in her day unless she died after 1912 in MS and maybe earlier like 1909 in other states. I can't find my grandmother's who died in 1927 in MS or my grand-aunt's who died in 1918. Yet , my great-grand-mother who died in 1919 is recorded . Her certificate number was found on Lafayette County: Mississippi Death Certificates 1912-1924 MSDAH Microfilm Roll #V362-1. Hope this will help. Evie Lafayette Co MSGenWeb CC
