article from the 'Carolina Spartan' , April, 1892 [Spartanburg , S.C.] MR. W.L. COLEMAN, near Pacolet [ Spartanburg Co.], went out to Mississippi four months ago to visit friends and relatives. He has 2 brothers, CHRISTOPHER COLEMAN and REUBEN COLEMAN in Lafayette county. The former has been there 19 years , the latter, 40 years. He saw many Spartanburg and Union Co. folks in that part of the country, amongst whom are the GARNERS, KIRBYS, MOSELEYS, BAILEYS and HODGES. They are generally doing well and have fair churches and schools facilities. The farmers are generally better off than the farmers here. After spending 2 months in Mississippi, he went to Yell county, Ark., there he felt at home because he met relatives and friends; JOHN LEMASTER and JOHN ELMORE there ... [ hope someone there can offer more information on the families that settled there from Spartanburg , S.C.
