While I have found a few errors on the 1880 census CD's from the LDS, the major errors I found were not in the transcription but were made by the census enumerator, i.e., indicating the state of birth incorrectly. I have previous census records from 1850, 1860, and 1870 on the same family members which have the correct places of birth, but the 1880 census indicates has the state that they moved from listed as the state of birth... Again, that was the enumerator and not the transcription. In any case, if you find the family you are looking for, get the documentation from the actual census record and don't rely only on the CD information. And just because it's "official" doesn't make it accurate. You still have to have something more to go on--get as much information as you can. Harriet
