Some folks on the list may be interested in a new book that has come out. It is entitled _Faulkner's County: The Historical Roots of Yoknapatawpha_, by Don H. Doyle. It is published by the University of North Carolina Press. I have not seen the book yet, but here is the description I read in the _Chronicle of Higher Education_: "Traces the history of Lafayette County, Miss., the main source of Faulkner's inspiration for the fictional setting of Yoknapatawpha; covers the period from the arrival of Europeans in the 1540's to Faulkner's death, in 1962." I sure plan on having a look. George K. Halsell [email protected] Surnames: WOOTTON/WOOTTEN, JOHNSTON, MARTIN, SANDERS, MANN, et al.
