    1. Re: [MSLAFAYE] Cemeteries/Burial look-up needed
    2. Could you see if there is a burial site listed for John Johnson Bogard, born in 1798 and died probably between 1857 and 1862., This was one of the five brothers who came to Northern Mississippi in the 1830-1850 time frame. John , perhaps lived in the in the area north east of Oxford and near Abbeville. John was married to Nancy Hudson Bogard and was the father of Edward Hudson Bogard, Alexander Anderson, John Johnson Bogard Jr. as well as other sons and daughters.. Harry Bogard Hbogard @aol.com

    1. Cemeteries/Burial look-up needed
    2. Could someone with access to records or books listing burials in Lafayette do a look up for me? I am specifically interested in a Matthew McCRARY (and variations in spelling such as McCrae, McCray, McCreary, etc.). We think Matthew died sometime between 1854-1860, and that he had moved into a shed behind the home of one of his sons. Perhaps he became ill in an epidemic and quarantined himself, but that is just a guess. It may be a long shot, but Matthew's widow, Eliza (Smith) McCrary appears in the 1860 census in Lafayette Co., so maybe they were living there when he died. Any help will be much appreciated. Harriet

    3. There are several BOGARDs listed in the Abbeville cemetery and no other cemetery in the county. All of them are on the same page of the listing, grouped together, so you might reasonably presume they are in a family plot. Unfortunately, there is no John J. BOGARD among those named. Below are all the names and dates of those interred: Alexander Reese BOGARD, b. 27 Jul 1862, d. 4 June 1920 ) Josephine Logan BOGARD, b. 1862, d. 1942 ) one stone William L. BOGARD, son of M. 2. Dear Evie, I appreciate your reply and all the suggestions and help you offered. I have printed off your email for future reference. I say "future", because this is a very busy week at church with Christmas baskets preparation and special singing practices. My genealogy will have to be put on the back burner until after the holidays. Thanking you very much, though! Amanda Canter, one of the Thweatt genealogists I mentioned having contact with through this list, emailed me following my postings and she said that the reason she believes Isham and Elizabeth Thweatt are buried in Wilkes-Williams instead of Union Grove is that they died before Union Grove was established. Thanks again, Evie, for all your help! Judy in snowy (but very cold) Michigan

The easiest and closest way to the Webb Cemtery is taking either CR 428 through Paris to CR 493 and the cemetery is abr 1/10 to 1/2 mi. on the east side of CR 493. You can also continue on the old Tulia Rd. (CR 430) though Paris until you come to the intersection of CR 445 which is the old Delay rd turn east and again you have to watch for CR 493 intersection, turn south , go abt. 10 mi. to Webb Cemetery will be on east side of road. The USGS coordinates are Tulia dist. 341047N 0892226W Tula, coming from Tulia you are on Hwy 331 S. to CR 428 turn West , go until CR 493 intersection , turn North on CR 493 to the cemetery. These roads all have County Road numbers now since the 911 numbering system went into effect. When I talk to old timers here around Paris they refer to the roads by their old names not number, CR 428 was called the old Sardis rd, its' history dates back to 1835 in the Lafayette Co commisioners court minutes , it ran through my great grandfather Miles Crocker property. I found where he was paid 1.35 by county for repairing the bridge which is over Dickey Creek before he died in 1895. Your map failed to mention that to reach the cemetery you must turn off the old DeLay rd., south onto CR 493.

    3. Excuse me, Sue; I had the wrong information, the Webb and Huckaby are two seperate cemteries in the same area. There are some Huckabys buried in the fence row next to the County Road of the Webb in the old area. This cemetery is L - shape. The old part would be the bottom of the "L" or like this |___. No, I don't know their relationship unless a Webb daughter married a Huckaby. --- Sue Moore <SueMoore60@cablelynx.com> wrote: > Do you know the connection between the Webb and > Huckaby family? 3. Susan; The Webb cemetery transcript or index is in the Skipwith Historical Society Lafayette County Cemetery Books, Vol. 1 , pg. 132. They have reprinted these cemtery books and the information as to how to buy them can be found at http://www.rootsweb.com/~mslafaye/books.htm plus I believe William Ward our look up Volunteer and mailing list administrar has send you the information on MARY WEBB SHARP. There many new SHARP GRAVES IN THE CEMETERY. I have send the exact directions twice yesterday and no one bothered to thank me or acknownledge my posts. .
