There is lots of information on Martin's in Don Shadburn's book "Unhallowed Intrusion". This book concerns the excavation of the Cherokee from GA. A Very good book.

Posted on: Lafayette Co MS Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ms/Lafayette/11201 Surname: Holleman, McNeil, Kimble, Lawhorn, Guy ------------------------- Edna, it is your cousin Betty. I found you on the Internet and since I did not have an e-mail address for you until now, I decided to send you a message. I finally got a new computer and have been surfing the net (as is everyone else). I hope to get to Stephenville this summer. I have had a lot going on the past two years. I moved back to Oklahoma and am now closer to Texas. I visited Lafayette County, Mississippi again last year and revisited the old Holleman Cemetery on private property. It is hard to get to, but there is a man who lives nearby who will help you access the property. Have you found anything new and exciting about the Hollemans? I have just gotten back into my research. Hope all are well. Stay in touch.
With much regret and a heavy heart I must give up the Lafayette Co MSGenWeb site, this list, and GenConnect boards. Circumstances beyond my control have forced me to cut down on my volunteer activities in certain projects and MSGenWeb is one of them. You are, however, in good hands. Bill Ward has graciously taken Lafayette Co back and will be the new CC, ListAdmin and GenConnect Coordinator. I adopted Lafayette Co from Bill about 3 years ago and I know that Bill will do a fine job. I will still be around for a while to assit Bill in the transition. Forwarded by the Listadmin for "Ken Hollingsworth" <[email protected]> *ANNOUNCING* a new list, [email protected] - for discussion of Mississippi in the Civil War. I appologize to those who will receive multiple copies of this message from any of my MS county lists. Realizing a need for such a list, along with a personal interest in Mississippi in the Civil War, I have requested and received a new list on Rootsweb, MS-CW-L (or D). Past experience of discussion of the Civil War on this list (or others) tells me that subject is not "generally" accepted by those who desire a forum for Genealogy-related discussion only. If your interest is in Genealogy "ONLY", do not subscribe to the MS-CW-L list. The purpose of this list is to provide a forum for discussing Mississippi in the Civil War, specifically Genealogy, History, Politics, and for sharing lists of those who served in the Civil War. As long as your message concerns these areas, it will be considered "within scope" as long as it is not offensive to a person's race, religion, or ethnicity. If these areas of study seem too offensive to you on a general nature, I suggest you NOT subscribe to the CW list. Subscribe to the Mississippi-L instead. That list is for genealogy-related issues only. I would suggest that anyone subscribing soon, to wait a day or so to post. I would hope that someone with more knowledge than myself would subscribe and be able to answer some of the questions. An alternative to subscribing in the usual way is to send me an email requesting to subscribe thusly - To: [email protected] Subject: MS-CW-L (or D) Subscribe with any comments you wish to make in the body of the email. As soon as there are several participants, and I subscribe all the requests, you will receive the welcome message. At that time - you can assume there will be enough participants to discuss an issue. *WARNING* - anyone posting messages that are offensive (see above) or inflamatory in nature - WILL BE REMOVED AND BLOCKED FROM THE LIST.
