    3. Do you have a copy of the book, HERITAGE OF LAFAYETTE COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, published by the Skipwith Historical and Genealogical Society? On page 562-563, there is an article about your Charles W. Starnes. It states that he was born on Feb. 20, 1830 and died 10 July 1862 at Toccopola while on leave from the army. He married Elizabeth C. More on Jul. 22, 1852. There is a picture of both Charles and Elizabeth in this book. My Charles W. Starnes is not the same as this one, but he was also in Lafayette Co. I have been very confused about the two. My Charles W. Starnes was born 9/15/1834 and died 4/1/1913, according to his tombstone (which shows C. W. Starnes). He is buried in Old Lebanon Cemetery, Lafayette Co., Ms., just a few mi. from Toccopola, MS. The C. W. Starnes family bible shows his birth as 1838. He married Mary Ann Furr Morrow, who was born 7/24/1836 and died 5/14/1910, according to her tombstone (which shows Mrs. C. W. Starnes, wife of C. W. Starnes). Mary Ann's first husband, John S. Morrow, died during the Civil War. They married in 1866. It states that Mary Starnes born 20 October 1857 married Sam West. Their children: Lizzie born June 1888, Dave born November 1889, Jim born October 1891, and Mary F. born February 1894. The article was written by George Mayes Starnes, Sr. The article gives some information on some of Charles W. Starnes' other children. 3. Esta, I received some pretty reliable information about a year ago that my great-uncle, Samuel Marion West married a Mollie Starnes. Then, I found the marriage record in Lafayette County for S. M. West and Mollie Starnes. They were married November 6, 1884. Then, I can't find it right now, but R. C. Tubbs posted a message to me on this list that Charles W. Moore and Elizabeth Moore were the parents of Mollie Starnes. Then, I found these two census records. 1860 Pontotoc County, MS, 1909 Stearnes, Charles W., 28, M, NC Elizabeth, 32, F, NC Sarah J., 7, F, MS Drucilla, 4, F, MS Mary C., 3, F, MS Thomas J., 1, M, MS 1870 Lafayette County, MS, 460B Starnes, Eliza, 40, F, NC S. J., 16, F, MS D., 14, F, MS Mary, 12, F, MS T. J., 10, M, MS Henry, 8, M, MS I am guessing that Mollie was a nickname for Mary. My Wests are in the 1870 Lafayette County census. They lived in Abbeville. They are also in the 1880 Lafayette Census. My ggrandfather James C. West and a brother, George W. West moved to Freestone County, Texas around 1886 or so. I think that the other brother, Samuel Marion West stayed in MS. They had two sisters, Mary and Catherine West, who married John David Watson. I have a lot of information on the Wests that went to Texas, but I've been trying to find the descendants of my Wests that stayed in Mississippi. Do you have information on the other children of Charles W. Starnes? I would appreciate any help or lead. I will be glad to share all the information I have - just let me know. 3. Does anyone have marriage records for Lafayette County after 1900? I think I have a lead on my great-uncle Marion WEST, b. 1852. I think he died in Lafayette County - at one time they lived in Abbeville. I am interested in marriage dates for his children. Marion WEST married Mollie STARNES. Also, Marion's sister, Catherine WEST married John David WATSON. I don't know anything about her children. I believe these WESTs and WATSONs were in Lafayette County until around 1920. They were in the 1880 Lafayette County census. I don't have access to the 1900 or 1910 census. I would appreciate any help at all. Thanks, Beth __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo! Mail - only $35 a year! http://personal.mail.yahoo.com/
