A lot of times, the CSA Veterans Pension Application files will also contain information about the death of the pensioneer, i.e., funeral home/burial costs, cause of death, etc., in those cases where the family members applied for financial aid to cover the expenses. Harriet

Just to relate a short story from personal experience that might help you, I pass this along. On one of my visits to Water Valley in search of records on my ggf, I stopped at the local funeral home. They had ledgers that went back to the late 1890s that they "inherited" from the former hardware/supply store. I found a record of 2 great-uncles who bought a casket for their father, my ggf, at the store for $25. It also had the date and cause of death recorded. It would appear to me that you should have a similar experience if you were to personally contact the funeral home(s) who might have provided the service. Sorry, but I do not know if undertakers in 1920 would have been registered by the state, and would like to know the answer also. My cousin, Gene Upchurch married into that family. Her name is Mary Lee. There is a Waller's Funeral Home here and they are related.
