Monya, Hah, this is a chance for a litt'e "spam" on the list ;-) Check out the link on the Lafayette Co. home page that takes you to Books available from Skipwith Hist. and Gen. Society, which takes you to the URL http://www.rootsweb.com/~mslafaye/books.htm Everything available is listed there, along with their prices. The cemetery books, if still available, are only $14 each. I don't remember what the additional shipping cost would be, but think it's somewhere around $3 or $4. I would welcome any updated information by list members, since I live in TX and can't check this out personally. Their sister's name was probably Mary, not Sophiah, as in the previous query and she was married to John M. Perry. Wiley Finley's wife was probably Martha Ann Bell, and they had one daughter, named Sara, born about 1852, probably in Chickasaw Co., Ms. Any information about the Finley family would be much appreciated.

My grandfather, Andrew Carrol Lee, was born in AL in 1869, and was 11 years old in the home of a widow named Emily Lee in the 1880 Census of Lafayette County. She had his younger sisters, Rebecca M., 9, Lorena B., 7, and Margaret M., all born in MS, and an 11 year old half brother, Thomas Lee in the same household. I had been told that Andrew Carrol was the son of a third wife named Sally, who was part blood indian. After Carrol died, she married Albert Morris and moved to TX, but later moved back. I need any help I can get to identify Sally, Emily, and the mother of Thomas Lee.
I have a family letter written 25 January 1887 from Paris, MS, by J. A. "Alex" THOMPSON saying that they lived 250 yards from their church, Pine Flat. His wife and family were already active members when he joined. In his letter he says, "I stayed out as long as I could with a praying wife and childen." :) However, his letter is exuberant in his new-found faith. Is anyone familiar with this family or know if the house is still there? Anyone know the whereabouts of any photographs of the 31st MS Regiment, Company D? My gr-gr-gr-grandfather fought with this troop and I think it's my best shot at getting a copy of a photograph of him. His named was Thomas Dixon Brown. Thanks! Pine Flat Methodist Church is still active with a small congregation, but I don't know whom you would contact for information. Pine Flat is relatively old, I believe it was established about 1879 or 1880.
