Wow, I'm glad to hear you're doing this. Thanks. I'll compose a "roll call" synopsis on my Kemper ancestors and post it. Thanks again for doing this. I have been a member of this list for probably its whole existence. Over the years, the list has run along smoothly, I do not expect any changes. Should the list be hit with SPAM, please do not comment on the list. I will take care of the problem as soon as I see it. If I should miss it, please write to me privately at the e-mail address below. If it should become necessary to terminate a thread, once I have made the declaration, the thread is dead. Violators will be put on moderation, or if necessary banned from the list. This may seem harsh, but nothing upsets a list more than threads that have gotten out of hand. In twelve years of managing mail lists, I have only had to do this a few times, and I don't think it have ever happened on the Kemper list. I am not very enthusiastic of Roll Calls, listing just surnames is not very productive. I would like to take this opportunity to as you to post your Kemper County ancestors with a little information that tells us who they really are. My own ancestors came to Kemper County probably before 1830, when it was still Indian Territory, they appear in the earliest tax lists and censuses. I probably still have cousins who live there. My direct line Kemper ancestors were: Willis White & Eliza Daniel; John W. White & Nancy Oden; Willis Chandler White & Sarah Dew; Elias Oden & Chloe Jones; and Duncan B. Dew and Elizabeth McKee. If you have any concerns or complaints, please write to me privately at [email protected] Except for termination of threads, I handle all concerns off list. I look forward to hearing about your ancestors. My George Wade King b. 1838 NC m. Ann Rainey Miller, dau. of Eli Miller and Catherine Hall Rainey in abt 1866. They lived in the Lockhart area of Lauderdale Co., MS which is just a few miles South of the Kemper Co., MS line. I am pretty sure William V. Rainey of Kemper Co., MS was Catherine's brother and they were children of Edmond Rainey and Phoebe Slayden. William later moved to Lauderdale Co. and served in several County official positions. Descendants may have moved on West. I would love to know where they went and other details of the family! Pictures would be great! I wonder if there is any connection of my George Wade King with the Kings of Rio in Kemper Co.? I would love to compare notes with persons interested in any of these surnames! Thank you!
