I have the same feeling. I understand, from posts I've seen, that everyone is using facebook for genealogy these days. Since I don't do facebook, I can't confirm that. It also appears to me that everyone is happy with copying their genealogy from major websites, and have no interest in research. It's also possible that all the folks who were doing real genealogy died. Most of the people I corresponded with when I first started were my parents generation. Most have passed on.
