She was married to James Richard Bridges. My mother, Margaret Bridges Allday, told me that one day she came home from school and her mother was reading a letter and crying. Grandma Bridges then told her about the murder and made the statement, "we always knew that he would kill her". There was a big difference in age between Hibernia and John as Grandma went on to say that he was too old for her. I have always been interested in the circumstances of the event if any could be found. By the way, I have a Shumate Family Tree that goes back to France to a man named Chalmette in the early teens.
