What I would like to know is why and how he got from Virginia to Mississippi..then what black cemetery in St Louis he's buried. His son Thomas is also burned in a black cemetery in St Louis but don't know the name of it either might be the same one. Going back that far past 1870 is difficult with slavery happening and usually no surnames to go by either. I'm not even sure how to go about this research since I don't know where in VA to start. any suggestions would be appreciated on how to go about looking for this information. sometimes the surname is also spelled Halloway thank you Shap Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Either she just avoided the census both times or she's listed with a different name.not sure what else Harriet would be listed as. She died Harried Banks so she didn't change her name before death. She was married to James Richard Bridges. My mother, Margaret Bridges Allday, told me that one day she came home from school and her mother was reading a letter and crying. Grandma Bridges then told her about the murder and made the statement, "we always knew that he would kill her". There was a big difference in age between Hibernia and John as Grandma went on to say that he was too old for her. I have always been interested in the circumstances of the event if any could be found. By the way, I have a Shumate Family Tree that goes back to France to a man named Chalmette in the early teens. You probably know that Justina was daughter of Enoch Spinks and Elizabeth Green Lloyd. Elizabeth's parents were William B. Lloyd and Mary "Polly" Cowling. William B. Lloyd was brother to my ggg grandfather Levi Lloyd. We can trace the Lloyd family back to 1704 in London. John Lloyd was born 1/5/1704 in London. This info is told by a letter written by his youngest son Joseph Lloyd to a nephew in 1838 from Bullit County, Kentucky. I have a copy of the letter and also a CD of a Lloyd family book that I will be happy to mail to you if you do not already have this. My e mail address is: [email protected] By the way, Enoch Spinks sister Mary Olive married Elizabeth Green Lloyd's brother John Emery Lloyd. Their daughter Mary Elizabeth married Peter Earlie Spinks. I have not been able to find the relationship between Peter Spinks and Enoch Spinks but am sure there is one. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
