Matilda was my great grandmother's sister (Lou Rea). Although I did not attend the 1980 reunion, there was a family reunion in the summer of 1980 in Birmingham, Alabama, of the Rea (Ray), Watson, Inge, and Ellington families. My mother and all of her sisters attended. The person who spearheaded that reunion was Carl Watson who lived in Chicago (sadly Carl passed away in 1994). There is going to be a reunion in August 2010 in Monroe, Louisiana, of the Calhoun family and its allied families. The Watson family (descendants of Matilda and Cap) is one of the connecting families. If you would like more information on this reunion, let me know and I can give you the name and email address for one of the people in charge of the 2010 reunion. Marr was born around 1816 or 1818 in Virginia, She married Benjamin Franklin Davenport and at some point moved to Marengo Co. Alabama where they had 4 children then they moved to Kemper County Mississippi where they had at least 5 more children. All this information I've found from the 1850, 60, 70, 80 census. What I'm looking for is information on where in Virginia Jane is from and who her parents were. They didn't seem to leave a trail from Virginia to Alabama. Does anyone have any information about who Janes parents are and where in Virginia they are from? I'm trying different counties and states, since I have no idea where in VA to look. I don't have any information about her parents either. Also I think she and Benjamin are buried in Porterville, Kemper, MS. Other members of the famiy are buried on the private family cemetery. Start with Peter D Burrows age 47 in 1900 census, born Tenn. Living in New Orleans, La. Ward2. Wife Mary age 24 born Illinois. 4 kids. Mary remarried by 1910 census has 5 yr old w new spouse, so guessing Peter died New Orleans 1900-1904 but no record found yet. I have compared all the kids' birth/death dates and I don't think this could be Jim Kirk with either of his wives/families. There have to be 3 girls and a baby (either boy or girl) who would fit the picture. That just doesn't match with what records I have. I think the man looks like a Gibson and the woman looks like a Burton, but they don't match with any of our known ancestors. Thanks anyway... maybe we will solve it one day.
