Not sure of head of household first name but last name is Reid. Next person is Mahala. Children: Geroge, Jane,Wiley and other. Also, on the 1860 Kemper County, MS Slave Schedule is a Mahala Reid but where there should be a "B" like the rest on the page, there is something different. My search started in Tennessee many years ago looking for a Jane Reid who married Joseph Garland in Davidson County, TN. They had two daugthers; Samantha Brazora and Mahala. I have info on Joseph, but he and Jane disappeared sometime after their marriage. And, Jane has been a complete mistery. Brazora, my ggrandmother was said to be Indian. Thanks for any help. My family name at least in 1854 was Duncan, as that was my great-great-Grandfather's name (Harry Dudley Duncan). I had never heard of that lineage being related to the Tripletts until I read the details in the book online - Kemper County Vindicated. I was interested because I know for a fact that an Alex Duncan was murdered when he was 16 years old in Kemper County on 16 June 1870. I also know that My ggg-Grandfather Alex Duncan was listed in the 1870 census (they have his age wrong - he was 45 and was born approx. 1825 - they had him 25 years old and born in 1845) as head of household, Lizzie -45 and several children and two grandchildren. My gg-Grandfather was listed by his middle name Dudley and he was 15 years old. I don't know why they were possibly associated with Tripletts unless once they got to MS, they were bought by Nimrod Triplett, etc. and once slavery was over, went back to the Duncan name. I have no proof of the! m ever changing their name. I could not find any of my Duncans other than my Grandpa Harry after the 1870 census. Thanks again and I love forward to hearing from you.
