Looking for more info. on the Rev. GABRIEL RAWLS. Gabriel was born circa 1720-30 most likely in NANSEMOND county, VIRGINIA (Some say ENGLAND}, anddied about the 27th of DECEMBER 1819 in CATAHOULA parish, LOUISIANA. He was listed in the VESTRY book of UPPER PARISH, NANSEMOND county, VIRGINIA in 1759, owning the same land that had belonged to the ORPHANS of LUKE RAWLS deceased. that property was a 200 acre tract that LUKE RALLS patented in 1747 with WILLIAM RALLS (I believe LUKE'S father) listed as a neighbor. after LUKE'S death about 4 MARCH 1752 it was listed as belonging to the heirs of LUKE RALLS. GABRIEL most likely went to ENGLAND to study the ministry with several of hischildren being born there. LUKE RAWLS, SR. {probable son of "old LUKE RAWLS} moved from NANSEMOND county, VIRGINIA with JESSE RAWLS to NORTHAMPTON county, NORTH CAROLINA, where JESSE RAWLS died leaving a wife OLIVE and a daughter SALLY who married JOHN BOON. GABRIEL RAWLS then showed up in JOHNSTON county, NORTH CAROLINA in 1771. LUKE RAWLS then moved to CRAVEN county, SOUTH CAROLINA about 1769 and GABRIEL & LUKE RAWLS had connecting land on CRAIN CREEK in CRAVEN county, SOUTH CAROLINA. LUKE'S land would eventually be in FAIRFIELD county and GABRIEL'S in RICHLANDcounty. both LUKE RAWLS, SR. & GABRIEL RAWLS {Brothers} would move to ROBERTSON county, TENNESSEE about 1796 where LUKE died circa JULY 1800. LUKE RAWLS, JR. would move to FRANKLIN county, ILLINOIS about 1822 dieing there about 1838. GABRIEL RAWLS then moved to CATAHOULA parish, LOUISIANA where he died there about 27th of December 1819 not long after his son JOHN RAWLS who died 6 October 1819. GABRIEL'S son's LUKE RAWLS & SILAS RAWLS, SR. moved from SUMNER & SMITH counties, TENNESSEE about 1805 with LUKE RAWLS going to FRANKLIN county, MISSISSIPPI and SILAS RAWLS, SR. {MY LINE} moving to JEFFERSON county, MISSISSIPPI about 1805. LUKE RAWLS died in FRANKLIN county, MISSISSIPPI or LAFAYETTE county, ARKANSAS. SILASRAWLS, SR. died in CLARK county, ARKANSAS. SILAS RAWLS, SR'S son DANIEL RAWLS left LAFAYETTE county, ARKANSAS in 1831 moving to ST. MARY parish, LOUISIANA.
