Quite awhile ago I shared the brief history of my g-grandfather Josiah Garrett's Civil War record, put into that format by one of his brothers, who found the info in my g-grandfather's wallet at the time of his death. One of the things that was mentioned was the company flag, which had been made by the ladies of the community and presented to the company at a special service at Union Presbyterian Church on the day of their departure for mustering in, in Brookhaven, to the MS 12th Regiment. Until recently, I had no idea what had become of that flag....but I found a database which included Charlie Clark's Rifles' company flag in the collection at the Old Capitol Museum in Jackson. Just wanted to let you know, if you get a chance to go, keep an out for the flag sewn by the ladies of Jefferson County. One of the ladies who presented the flag that day was Flora Carmichael, who became Josiah's wife and my g-grandmother. Also found was a list of all the members of his company, Charlie Clark's Rifles, made up of men from the Union Church area. It's been awhile since I offered to check for names....if anyone would like me to look for a name on the roster, just let me know. Below is contact info for the Old Capitol Museum.
