    3. Peggy, I don't see Benjamin in any of the records. They are indexed, & I found the Allen on each page that was listed in the index but, since some pages are difficult to read, there's a possibility that there may be two Allens on one page and I can only see one. (Just to let you know that there's still a chance he might be there somewhere....) Spelling for each entry is "Allen." 1850 was the first time they listed individual names in the census. In 1840: Thomas ALLEN; in household: ages 10-15, 2 males; under 5, 1 female; 5-10, 1 female; 30-40, 1 female (Interesting it's listed under 'Thomas' but shows no adult males in the home. ALLEN, first name is unreadable, but the first letter is not a 'B', & middle initial is 'E', can't read household members. In 1850: In the home of James WOOD: Mary ALLEN, 60, b. MD Eliza ALLEN, 79, b. MD; Mary ALLEN, 59, b. MD; also several DIXONS in home, all b. MD None in 1820 or 1830. Couldn't find Benjamin, but maybe there's a clue in here somewhere! Nancy
