Archie David Vaughan was born 15 June 1868 in Brookhaven, Ms. He was orphaned as a small child and was raised by his Aunt Louise Elizabeth Vaughan Wise, wife of Dr. John Patterson Wise. He married Lydia Jane " Lizzie" Cunningham daughter of David Whitfield Cunningham and Lydia Elizabeth Herring on 19 Aug 1891. They had 4 children, Archie David Vaughan, Jr. who never married; Rennie Elizabeth Vaughan who married Claude Stewart Geoghegan, son of William Mason Geoghegan, the County Supervisor, and Lydia Jane Bullen; Clarence Cunningham Vaughan and an infant daughter who died at birth. A.D. Vaughan, Jr. died in 1954. Rennie and her descendants lived most of their lives in the Jefferson County area until later on in life when they got jobs in the Baton Rouge, La area, except for one son and daughter who still live in Fayette today and one son who lives in Natchez. I have been unable to determine the whereabouts of Clarence and his family. Benjamine Franklin Vaughn who lived in the Red Lick area in the 1930's later moved to Hazlehurst where he later died his wife, Lola Vaughn also took care of and raised some children who were never leagly adopted, one of them being my mother in law who was born Lula Mae Curbin in Fayette 1919 she tood the name of Nell Vaughn, and later married J.B. Lindsey and they had 10 children, this was all in and around Crystal Springs,he owned and operated the J.B. Lindsey andSon Slaughter house on the old highway 51 between Hazlehust and Crystal Springs, it is now owned by Wilsons. we have the 1920 census from Fayette and found them, Annie Macy Curbin, here husband George Curbin, and one child Lula May Lula May is what became Nell Vaughn Lula May had a sister born in 1920 and in 1922 Annie Macy died at the age of 22, her girls, were given away by her husband George, she was ill, and in a hospital someplace, and left the hospital looking for her two girls, and was found dead in the streets of Fayette. We are still looking for the rest of her family, it was Jones, and we know she has two sisters with the combined help of many people from that area, we are slowly putting pieces to gether that we never knew, but because of the kindness of others, we now know who the birth parents of Nell Vaughn are. And history goes on, thank you At 10:23 PM 02/17/2001 -0600, Ann Geoghegan wrote: >Archie David Vaughan was born 15 June 1868 in Brookhaven, Ms. He was >orphaned as a small child and was raised by his Aunt Louise Elizabeth >Vaughan Wise, wife of Dr. John Patterson Wise.
