I just purchased a book, "Lost Mansions of Mississippi" by Mary Carroll Miller. There are photographs or illustrations of many houses which no longer exist. If you have an interest in any of the houses listed below, I can scan and send the photo to you. In addition, the author lists homes that are not represented in the book, either because of space or because these houses have vanished with no further information. In Jefferson County, this list includes: Arundo, Auburn Hall, Dent's Folly, Everton, Gayoso, Home Hill, Moss Hill, Mt. Airy, Oakwood, The Pines, Villa Gayoso, Woodburn; in Franklin County: Abner Kinnison House. (Some of these are well known, but the author invites anyone who may know something about the lesser known homes to write to her.)
