Toni, Yes, there were African Americans listed as members of Union Church Presbyterian Church. They were referred to as servants and were in most cases listed with the name of the owner. A few are listed with no owner which could mean free person or was an oversight in the records. The servant members were received as members as early as 1827. The last servant to be accepted as a member was in 1864.
