One of the problems with trying to track the Lewis family is that there are so many people with the Lewis surname - at one time it was the ninth most common surname. None of my Lewis ancestors seem to have been in MS. You might help by giving a given name and year that you think they were in Franklin Co., where McCall Creek is. I can find no Lewis in any of the censuses I have access to - 1792 Spanish through 1850 Federal - living in Franklin Co., MS. I found a marriage of a William Lewis to Margaret Byrd in 1838, in Franklin Co., MS, on CD-ROM #5. All the other Lewis marriages in Franklin Co. were during or after 1865.
