    3. Posted on: Jefferson Co. Ms Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ms/Jefferson/436 Surname: ALLEIN, FITZPATRIC, WOOD ------------------------- Hello, My ancestors in Jefferson County MS (Church Hill)were Colonel James Gillam Wood (1770-1845) married Sara(h) Weems Allein (1779-1805.) Their child was James Gillam Wood (Jr.) (1799-1864) who married Laura Fitzpatric (1810-1864.) Their child was Juliet Morton Wood (1832-1914) who married Benjamin Franklin Allein (1827-1898.) Their child was Corinne Franklin Allein (1866-1967) who married William Woodward Moore. Benjamin Franklin Allein was the child of Thomas Allein and Mary Priscilla Weems. My ancestors came from Maryland and settled in Church Hill, where they lived throughout the 1800s. Many of them are buried there, some of them at Christ Church. I would like to find more information on the FITZPATRIC side. I would also like to meet other researchers on these lines. Thank you, Peggy Dyas Virginia Beach VA [email protected]

    3. Mary I find only one Cem. on my topographic maps on the banks of Coles Creek. To determine where this particular road is give me a date I can go by. I am familiar with the area and live close to it and I know there are several roads this could be talking about. The Cem. I found is on the North bank of Coles Creek on the Natchez Trace, which I believe is going to be the road they are talking about, but it was and still is very well known and I have to wonder why they called it the Port Gibson to Natchez road instead of the Trace. I have to go right by it tomorrow and if I can get to it I will stop. 2. Ann, This is a nice tribute. Thanks for sharing. The Stowers fellow on there was probably the father of Dr. Kurt Stowers who was the greatest surgeon and doctor Natchez ever had. The guy actually worked himself to death. I still haven't had a chance to get through the 1860 Franklin County census on Henry Vaughn, but haven't forgotten it. Will get to it as soon as I get a chance. Don't know if it will be today or not as I have a computer coming in by UPS which I have to fix fasts and ship back out later today or tomorrow. Are you still having rain or is it drying out and warming up? Tony

Your only chance is finding the date of birth recorded in a family bible since it occured before births were recorded by the State of MS. If it were a male you could check the WWI draft registration records and might find it for someone born before 1900. Might also check the Mormon records at www.familysearch.org Tony

Ms Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ms/Jefferson/431 Surname: BARRETT ------------------------- I'm trying to get the record of the birth of my great-grandmother Della Barrett, who was born in Fayette on Feb 6 1891. I've called both the Circuit Clerk and the Chancery Clerk and both offices say they don't have birth records, and couldn't give me any advice beyond directing me to the State Dept. of Health in Jackson, whose records I know don't go that far back. What office has birth records for Jefferson County before 1910, can anyone tell me? Thanks, -Alma ([email protected])
