Ms Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ms/Jefferson/10475 Surname: ------------------------- I understand deed records indicate that Henry Manadue was in the Ntachez area as early as 1788. The early 1792 Census of Natchez District, Miss. lists Henry MANADUE Sr. & Jr. in the District of Santa Catalina. Henry Manadue, said to be a Calvinist of North Carolina, was the son of Henry & Phoebe Manadue, and he married 2 Feb 1797 at NATCHEZ to Deliah Horton, the daughter of Abraham & Rebecca Horton. Henry Manadue had a daughter Mary Manadue who married 7 Jun 1807 in Jefferson Co., Miss. to William JUSTICE and by 1810 they were in Rapides Parish, La. On 4 Jul 1805, Stephen JUSTICE married Eliza BONNER in Jefferson Co., Miss, and they are on the 1810 Tax list of Adams Co., Miss. Seeking info. on the early Miss. family of Justice, Manadue & Bonner. William E.Parker married the widow of Cato West's son William. She was Sarah Kirkland West, daughter of Zachariah Kirkland and Martha Raiford. As late as 1802, Zachariah was in Jefferson Co., when he was appointed by Claiborne to be in charge of Regiment 2D in Jefferson Co.,along with Wm.Thomas. William Parker and Sarah married between 1810-12. This William was still living in 1825 when he appraised Lovelace property in Catahoula Parish, but do not know how long Sarah lived. William's signature is unmistakable, large and confident, so I can identify it when I see it. He was Clerk in Jefferson Co. for several years. The Kirklands,Greens, and Wests were intermarried several times. Am curious now about whether he married Sallie Guice in 1819. If her name was Sarah, that may be hard to determine. Also, have never known if Sarah Kirkland and William Parker had children. If anyone can shed light on this, would appreciate it. Barb
In Ann Brown's book "Christ Episcopal Church/Church Hill, Jefferson Co.MS", page 62, June 13, 1858 a Rev. Lord attended the consecration of the new church on the site of the old one. In Vicksburg, Warren Co. MS, an Episcopal Rev. W. W. Lord performed the marriage rite for my gg grandparents on 17 March 1858 (from the Vicksburg Weekly Whig.) Could either of these be the ones you are looking for? Peggy Dyas Virginia Beach [email protected] Researching: ALLEIN, FITZPATRIC, WOOD in Jefferson Co.

Ms Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ms/Jefferson/10472 Surname: Lord ------------------------- I am seeking information of the Lord family that was believed to live in Jefferson County around the Union Church area. Brothers Matthew (b.1847), Elbert (b.1860), Napoleon Boney (b.1853), LaFayette (b.1856), and sister Roxie (b.1851) later made a move to North Louisiana (1900- Louisiana census). Believed that the wife of Boney and a half brother to the Lord family remained in or around Jefferson County, Mississippi. Any information will be helpful. Thank you.

Ann, I am so glad to hear that the vote is going in favor of keeping the flag! I live in Texas now so I couldn't vote for it. Last weekend I was in Jackson to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Col. W. D. Holder Chapter of the UDC, named for my great-grandfather. Our same Mississippi flag was waving when he was alive. Thanks for working to preserve it. Is that book still available? I have Elisha Corban and Julia Ann O'Steen. Diane Hall
Good heavens, There have been books written on the Corbans! The best one I've found is "Corban Copies" by William Cunningham Corban. Barbara Anderson, I gather from what you posted that your great grandmother must have been Margaret Eloisa Cunningham, a daughter of Hugh Cunningham and Sarah Ann May. She first married John Burnes Corban on 1 July 1857 and married second, Samuel Noah Coleman on 3 Feb 1870. Tony Miller in Calabasas, CA
Diane Hall, Not sure if Bill Corban is still alive or not. His book, "Corban Copies," was published in 1996 and he advertised it in the Franklin Advocate probably a year or two later. The Library of Congress Catalogue Card No. is: 96-80322 Might suggest that you contact Bill at the following address and see if it is still available: William C. Corban, P.O. Box 1027, Slidell, LA 70459-1027. Tony Miller in Calabasas, CA

Ms Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ms/Jefferson/10469 Surname: Coleman, Lee, Erwin, Linder ------------------------- My mother's sister, Neta Coleman, married Emmett Scott and they lived in McNair, MS. She was his second wife. My Scott cousins and I have just begun to explore the family genealogy. Many of that Scott family are buried at a cemetery in the country that is called Greenwood, I think. I knew several of them, including Uncle Emmett's mother and brother John. Also, I think my husband's family who lived in Jefferson County near Fayette are connected to Scotts. The oldest names I know were Thomas and Mary Jane Reed. He was a lawyer. Do you know know anything about any of these people? I would appreciate any information you can share. Thanks--
