>From Itawamba Settlers, September 1987 Raper Srings resort, located south of Tremont, was once a thriving place that was in existence until the earlt 1900's. The Raper family built a brick wall around seven springs that run out of the steep hillside. At one time there were several cabins and a hotel and the resort saw many visitors. Today the rock wall is still in place and clumps of flowers and piles of rocks are reminders of where houses once stood. Some members of the Raper family are buried here but only one marker has been found. Mrs. Lucille Raper Cody and her husband Purvis Cody still live in the community. Lucille is a descendant of Joseph Raper and his wife who moved their family to Oklahoma. However, some members of the family moved back to Mississippi. Markings on the one monument found are: F. G. Raper, daughter of J.A. and M.J. Raper Born June 24, 1890 Died April 2, 1891
