    3. Hi Marilyn Thank you for the information. I have received information from several researcher and so I am trying to clarify and correct what I have. I appreciate your help. I have heard from others who are trying to determine the connection between Elbert and Thornton. He could have been a son of Thornton or a nephew. There was also a James R Hancock in Pickens County Alabama who filed a homestead claim near Thornton's claim. James could have been Thornton's brother? I have also heard from others that Thornton was part Native American. This has not been verified. Thanks for your help.
