Hoyett A. Cantrell, 69, died Thursday, May 10, at the Fulton Hospital. He was a native of Lamar County, Ala., a retired mechanic for GMC, a veteran, a member of the American Legion and the Northside Baptist Church. Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Senter Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lee Franks and the Rev. Jerry Nichols officiating. Burial followed in the Young Memorial Garden in Smithville. Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Cantrell of Fulton; four daughters, Jo Ann Beck of Ramsey, Ill., Jenny Kuhn of Fulton, Nora Nelson of Compton, Ill., and Joyce Cantrell of Montgomery, Ala.; one son, Hoyett A. Cantrell Jr. of Plano, Ill.; three sisters, Ruby Williams and Jewel Dean Lyle, both of Amory, and Jean Martin of Columbus; three brothers, Buck Cantrell and John Cantrell, both of Amory, and Joe Cantrell of Huntsville, Ala.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchilden.
