George - Did you know that the National Archives microfilms of the units have, at the beginning of the film, the history of the unit. I have information about the 42nd, I believe, at home - we are on vacation and I can check if you would like. The unit in which my husband's great-grandfather and his brother, were also at Gettysburg - they were both wounded, and a third brother who had enlisted in Tippah County was killed. Perhaps the NA microfilm might be available closer than Washington.
