    1. [MSITAWAM-L] Civil War Co. formed at Richmond - Roll & Data

    3. Company B, 3rd Battalion, Mississippi Infantry, C.S.A. Captain Henry Martin's Company AKA, "The Insurgents" This is a company during the Civil War that was formed at Richmond. It was brought together in the early days of the war, and was not a group composed of recruits compelled by the 1862 acts of the Confed. Congress. Richmond then was in Itawamba County, and though today it is in Lee County, it still lies close to the Itawamba county line. The below link and information is compiled from the 3rd Battalion, Mississippi Infantry microfilm at the National Archives. I recently copied the information down on a trip to D.C. and thought it might be useful to others. There is a good chance I skipped over some individuals. But if they had more than one Company Muster Roll, I most likely got them. They wouldn't let me pull the Muster Rolls themselves so this had to do. You can find the information at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~unitycem/3rdbattn.html Hope this helps some folks. Let me know if I can answer more questions (I'm especially interested in Boston and Morgan families). Please do not respond to this email address.
