David: Many thanks for the post about the old Richmond school! I am researching the 43rd MS Infantry and was, accordingly, interested in the name "Col. W.M. Pound." Merriman Pound was a captain in my 43rd MS Infantry. Could your "Col. W.M. Pound" be him? If so, I would appreciate any info found on him! He is quite an interesting character! After service in the 43rd MS Infantry, he became a Lt. Col. in the 2nd MS Cavalry. Still later, he was a state representative from Itawamba! Thanks for any info you come across that seems relevant, as the 43rd MS Infantry is an almost wholly undocumented regiment!
