Does anyone know where Richmond, Mississippi is? In an old record in 1853, Richmond was in Itawamba County. But, I can not find it on any maps old or new. Any help would be very much appreciated! Thank you, Rachel
It's not a huge site, but try this link: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~unitycem/richmond.html It will give you about as much information on Richmond as you can find anywhere else on the web (though I haven't updated it in a few months). Hello Rachel, I believe that there are, or were, two Richmonds in Mississippi. One is in Lee County and could have easily been in Itawamba County before Lee County was formed, partly from Itawamba County. It is located at 34 deg 11 min North Latitude and 88 deg 33 min West Longitude. I believe the other Richmond was in Rankin County but has now been abandoned and is currently only an historic place. It was located at 32 deg 13 min North Latitude and 90 deg 11 min West Longitude. I hope this is of some help. Good hunting.
