    3. Good morning Jo Carolyn; I am a bit late in replying to you post. But I had saved it in a research folder and I'm trying to catch up with it :>). Thank you for the information. One of my ggrandfathers is James Calvin Gilstrap. He lived in Mantachie. In checking census records at the HIstory Center in Mantachie, I found the Lewis Gilstrap family in the 1860 file, household 1192. I haven't been able to connect them to my line, but the fact that one of the sons was named James C. would indicate a probable connection. The names are: (I've computed the birth year from the ages given. They are a guess at the best.) Lewis 54 Ga 1806 Prudencd 51 Ga 1809 Mary J. 36 Ga 1824 James C. 26 Ga 1834 John B. 22 Ga 1838 Elizabeth 17 Ga 1843 Sultana(fem) 16 Ga 1844 Milledge H.(male) 10 Ga 1850 This indicates that the family moved from Georgia to Mississippi some time between 1850 and 1860. Thank you again, Bill Carter John / Jo Carolyn Beebe wrote: > One cemetery in Lee County lists Gilstraps. LEE COUNTY CEMETERY > RECORDS 1820-1979.
