Company B, 3rd Battalion, Mississippi Infantry, C.S.A. Captain Henry Martin's Company AKA, "The Insurgents" This is a company during the Civil War that was formed at Richmond. It was brought together in the early days of the war, and was not a group composed of recruits compelled by the 1862 acts of the Confed. Congress. Richmond then was in Itawamba County, and though today it is in Lee County, it still lies close to the Itawamba county line. The below link and information is compiled from the 3rd Battalion, Mississippi Infantry microfilm at the National Archives. I recently copied the information down on a trip to D.C. and thought it might be useful to others. There is a good chance I skipped over some individuals. But if they had more than one Company Muster Roll, I most likely got them. They wouldn't let me pull the Muster Rolls themselves so this had to do. You can find the information at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~unitycem/3rdbattn.html Hope this helps some folks. Let me know if I can answer more questions (I'm especially interested in Boston and Morgan families). Please do not respond to this email address. This is one of the most active lists to which I subscribe and I can tell you it is also one of the best. That is because of people like you that are helping others. I know sometimes we get caught up in our research and forget about the generosity of spirit and time that goes into the help we receive, but I for one do appreciate it. Any information that is posted to the internet - whether to a list such as this, or to a web page, is appreciated by so many people. And the wonderful thing is that it can be there for posterity. Thank you for any help you have given to anyone on this list - because I also was a recipient of that help. Please do post any transciptions here and dare I also suggest that the offer be made to share them with the County Web Site also. That way, many, many more people can profit from the work and generosity you put into the work. Without the Itawamba Web Site and some of its links, it would have been a long, long time before I discovered that two of my maternal gggrandparents were in the county at about the same time - and I found the marriage records for both families through Mississippi County Web Sites. One was the Itawamba and the other was Tishomingo. Thanks to other transcribers and sharers of information such as yourself. Thank you - and all the others that take their time and money to help those of us that can't be there in person to help ourselves. Maryann Dixon Moseby

I know they either need a copyright release of some sort on the original copyright need to be expired. I sincerely doubt this book's copyright is expired since it was published in 1986, but if the newspaper has no interest in republishing, perhaps they would sign a release. I would offer to make the contact, but my schedule right now is totally unbelievable and I won't be seeing daylight until time to start preparing for Thanksgiving. (That's why I made my "lookup offer" on a TIME-AVAILABLE basis. Lucinda Jane BUTLER (or was it Mary Jane or perhaps Mary Lucinda?) married James Milton WATSON in 1875 in Lee County. Their family was raised in both counties. Would like more info on both lines. Lucinda Francis WATSON (dau of above couple) married Charles Andrew DOZIER in 1892 in Fulton, MS. Would like her birth place on 23 Aug 1876. Also, where in AL was he born on 02 May 1874? James Orville DOZIER, son of above married Anna Maye DODSON 16 Oct 1921 in Mantachie and raised their family of 5 children in Fulton. Anna Maye's parents were Jacob Alfred DODSON and Sarah Louella COOLEY. I am seeking additional information on Jacob "Jake". All I currently have is that he was born in AL (per the census) Siblings? Parents? Thanks, -- Diane Scannell Wichita, KS dscannell@kscable.com Rootsweb Sponsor and Proud Donor http://sikes-sykesfamilies.rootsweb.com http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~inthetrees/
