The families I am researching are WILSON, FORD, and LEWIS. I am looking for the family of Elisha "Lish" Lewis (Sometimes spelled Louis). He is listed in the Drew Co., AR 1870 Census as 30 years old, born in Mississippi, and married to Eliza Jane Ford (Daughter of William E. Ford and Harriett Wilson). Therefore, Lish would have been the right age to have served in the Confederacy. Since he married an Itawamba girl, I am taking the stretch to assume he was from that county too. Anyway, I wonder if someone might have access to Mississippi Civil War Veterans to see if his name is on the list, and also if someone could do a 1860 Itawamba County Census look up...he would be about 20 years old and possibly living with his family? Do you know if any of your Melton line settled in Henderson TN? My g-grandfather William Henry Stevens moved to Henderson (40 mile N. of Corinth) after the war.
