    3. Does anyone have a picture of Col. Wm. H. Moore of the 11th and 43rd MS Infantries? He was from Monroe County, but surely from the same Moore families that populated Itawamba. I am working on a regimental history of the 43rd MS Infantry and am desperately interested in this Confederate hero. William Moore organzied the 11th and took it to Virginia, where it achieved great fame. Becoming disabled, he resigned, but first received permission to raise another regiment, which became the 43rd MS Infantry. Col. Moore was killed while gallantly leading the 43rd (and Green's Brigade) on the charge which achieved the deepest Confederate penetration of Yankee-held Corinth, MS, on October 4, 1862. I am also deeply interested in any letters or diaries that this great Confederate might have left behind in family hands! Please contact me if you have info on Col. Wm. H. Moore! (Please visit my small website for the 43rd MS Infantry at www.43rdmississippi.homestead.com/index.html. The 43rd was raised in Itawamba, Monroe, Lowndes, Kemper, Webster, and Union/Pontotoc Counties, MS.) If you, too, are a descendant of a veteran of the 43rd, please contact me! Muster rolls listing all known veterans of this brave regiment can be found at the referenced 43rd MS site! -- Jim Huffman

    3. Do any of your Moore family researchers happen to know the parentage of Welthy Moore, b. abt 1767 in Johnston Co., NC, m. Feb. 28, 1791 also in Johnston Co., NC to John Green, b. abt. 1845 in Johnston Co., NC. He died Dec. 15 1809 in Johnston Co. NC, but she died in Itawamba Co., MS, Oct. 19, 1849, and is buried in the Carolina Cemetery. Many of the Green descendants of the area descend from this couple. I descend from them two way! Thanks for any help that you might be, in advance. 3. I don't know if they are related or not. All I know is, Ann "Babe" Elgar, claimed to have been born in MS, around 1853, married Thomas Franklin Belue in Lawrence Co. TN. She was supposed to be an orphan and lived with an aunt. She died of typhoid fever in AL in 1890. I have tried very hard to connect her to Lewis Elgar, Philander Elgar and the other MS Elgars with no results. However, since that is the only Elgars I can find in the South, I keep hoping. Do you know anything about her? Thanks.

    3. Regarding the name White on your list: My Elizabeth Orr Johnson (daughter of Stephen Johnson and Elizabeth Johnson) married a White. That is all I have about her. I have found her siblings marriage records, but nothing on her. The name Michener: On the 1850 Itawamba Co. census in the house with my Stephen and Elizabeth Johnson and their children, there is a William Michenin (last name hard to read-could be Michener), age 27, teacher, born TN. There is also an Elizabeth age 26, born AL, listed right under him. Could this be your person? I guess the schoolteacher was living with my people. Can't tell if the Elizabeth is his wife, because I first thought it said age 76.
