    3. I think that "Col. W.M. Pound" is probably William Marion Pound, 1828-1887. He started off as a private in Co. H. It was his brother that was Merriman Pound, 1819-1891, Captain of Co. H. They are both sons of Richard Pound and Cynthia Harkness. When I was in D.C. this summer I was able to take a look at one of the company muster rolls for Co. H. There sure are a lot of local boys in it. I also have a few Hill uncles in Co. E from Fredonia (modern Ingomar in Union County). If you have a chance (and I'm assuming you have the microfilm rolls), could you tell me if there are any details given about Reuben W. McCarty? He was in Co. H also. I am specifically looking for an age to make sure he was the right Reuben McCarty I'm thinking he was (born 1840 in SC). He's probably buried at Andrew's Chapel Cem. in Lee County. If you are looking for personal information about the soldiers (date of death, parents, wives, etc.), I can furnish it for a number of these. Please let me know what kind of information you are going to publish when you do put a book out. Thanks, dave webb Huffman wrote: > David: > > Many thanks for the post about the old Richmond school! > > I am researching the 43rd MS Infantry and was, accordingly, interested in > the name "Col. 3. David: Many thanks for the post about the old Richmond school! I am researching the 43rd MS Infantry and was, accordingly, interested in the name "Col. W.M. Pound." Merriman Pound was a captain in my 43rd MS Infantry. Could your "Col. W.M. Pound" be him? If so, I would appreciate any info found on him! He is quite an interesting character! After service in the 43rd MS Infantry, he became a Lt. Col. in the 2nd MS Cavalry. Still later, he was a state representative from Itawamba! Thanks for any info you come across that seems relevant, as the 43rd MS Infantry is an almost wholly undocumented regiment! Please visit our fledgling website at www.43rdmississippi.homestead.com/index.html. We will eventually publish a strictly non-profit regimental history of the "Bloody 43rd." Thanks again for any relevant info you can share!! Please accept warmest, best wishes to you and yours from me and mine! -- Jim H.

    2. I have a Prudy Jane WILSON, b. abt. 1845. Her father was possible John? and her mother was Anna/Annie. Prudy had a couple of brothers: Burt, Dave, and John. I believe it is the 1850 census that shows an Elijay WILSON living with them. Prudy married Joseph Leonard HUGHES SR. I do not know where any of them are buried. Do you find any of them anywhere on your WILSON genealogies? Sincerely, Kay R. Music PS...There is more posted on genforum.

    3. I have sent out feelers for Wilson and Ford researchers, but it doesn't appear that anyone is working on this line. However, I have noticed this name in many of your correspondences. I would like to begin a database for the Wilsons and Fords, and try to unravel the families and see how they are connected. I will compile it if you will give me names and dates of births, deaths and marriages and any other pertinent information. My JOHN WILSON came to Itawamba County before 1840. Before that they were in Tennessee. A census records says that he and his wife HARRIETT ?? were born in NC. Their daughter MARTHA WILSON was born 1808 in Tennessee. She married William Edward Ford. The WILSONs and the FORDs were in Itawamba Co. until at least 1858. I'm sure that Martha Wilson had siblings, so if anyone has a WILSON born in the 1808 time frame, they could possibly be the sons or daughters of John and Harriett Wilson. I went through Book I of the Cemetery Markings of Itawamba Co, MS, and the following are the names I found. Please identify and elaborate if any of the following are in your family. thanks!! W.L. sure did a great service to all of us who don't have any other first person accounts of what it was like living around all of our ancestors! By the way, do you know if it is possible to obtain a copy of the book that your cousin did a few years ago? Olden Times Revisted? was that the title? I sure would like to find one, but searches on the web turned up nothing. Thanks, Dave Webb Leota Hosman wrote: > I am interested in what it says about W.L. Clayton. He is one of my > ancestors.
