Looking for info on Madison Pitts Gober and family who were in Prentiss Co, MS in 1880 and in Jefferson Co. AL in 1900. I found a tax record that places them in ITAWAMBA Co in between. I'm trying to find when and where Pitts wife, Harriett Garner Gober died and he re-married to Martha Taylor(ca.1887). If anyone could check cemetery listings for me I would be very grateful. Thanks, Frances

Hi Most of the Browns on my list remained in Mississippi. Some went to Texas and Arkansas but I don't show any in Louisiana. Hi Marilyn Thank you for the information. I have received information from several researcher and so I am trying to clarify and correct what I have. I appreciate your help. I have heard from others who are trying to determine the connection between Elbert and Thornton. He could have been a son of Thornton or a nephew. There was also a James R Hancock in Pickens County Alabama who filed a homestead claim near Thornton's claim. James could have been Thornton's brother? I have also heard from others that Thornton was part Native American. This has not been verified. Thanks for your help. Joanne: Archibald Griffin was my great-grandfather. His wife, Frances Adaline Hancock, was the daughter of Elbert Hancock (b. 1817) and Miranda Crawford Hancock, not Thornton & Eliza's daughter. This information is confirmed on Frances' death certificate. Frances was born Feb. 8, 1839 and died of a stroke in Polk Co. AR on Jan. 8, 1917. We have been unable to determine the identity of Elbert's parents, but strongly suspect that Thornton is his father because both left SC and were in Pickens Co. AL at the same time. Elbert and Miranda are on the 1850 census of Marshall Co. MS along with their daughter, Frances A. That is the last time Elbert is found. In 1860, Miranda is in Itawamba Co. along with Archibald and Frances (Hancock) Griffin and Thornton's other children. I must have missed the post about the 1880 census being online. I'm looking for information on Nettie Little b. abt. 1884 (and) m. Curtis C. Thompson b. abt. 1888. Nettie had a brother named Marshall (Marshall Little m. Blanch Vaughan) and sisters named Claden, Cladie and Donie Little b. Aug 11, 1881 d. Oct 13, 1951 (m. James Daniel Prett). The Little's father's name was Frances Marion (d. Dec 16, 1904) who had two wives: Mary and Martha Jane. I have no clue as to who Nettie Little or curtis Thompson's parents are. A brick wall I have been chipping at for a long time. Any help would be greatly appreciated. All the best, Lisa Thompson
