    3. Is that the Rueben from Virginia? Yes, we did have Barretts in Madison County but these names don't look familiar. I'll ask my Mom..she'll know..she was half raised in Lexington. I'll get back to you asap. Back in the early 90s on *Prodigy the Barrett board was swamped...there was a line for Virginia and the name Rueben kept coming up. No one seemed to know much about it. I wonder if that is your line? 3. Hi everyone, I have quite a few ancestors and relatives in Holmes County. If their last name is Barrett or Burwell they're my family. I have things like an old picture of the Lexington Bank at Christmas and pictures of family members from there. I remember going to the movies at this tiny lil building that had dirt floors! My late uncle's law office was near by. We used to love going to work with him because we'd get to go to the drugstore on the square. They made the most wonderful milk shakes! I also remember holding Payton Manning when he was about three months old. (Now that's a biggie :) Sorry about that, I'm way too wordy.:) Just wanted to introduce myself and say hi from Tennessee. If anyone ever needs Tennessee info I can more than likely find it or pass it to someone who might have it. I do the Rutherford County TNGenWeb site and a few other things. Also, if anyone is researching Barretts or Burwells or Luse (oh my!) ancestors and have a brickwall I will try my best to help. Thanks, Mari Burwell Byers Nashville, Tennessee

    1. [MSHOLMES] From List Mom - A few items to help you.
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members, If you are interested in knowing about other mailing list out there, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fuller’s Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html If you ever need to unsubscribe from this list or any rootsweb list all you need to do is visit Password Central located at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Follow the instructions and you will received an e-mail of all lists you belong to and from it you can unsubscribe from the ones you want to. Always know that I will be more than happy to help you if you are having problems unsubscribing, you only need to ask. Please send this request to KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net not to the entire list. If you would like to visit the Archived messages of this list, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and type in the name of the list you would like to search and from there you can search by dates. If you are having problem and I do not answer you right away, know that I will. I like many of you work full time outside of my home. I am fortunate that I can check my e-mail any time I wish, but know that there are spaces of time I cannot. I always check my e-mail each and every evening and will respond to message that need me then and there. There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. When sending a posting to the list it would help if you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line. Doing this also might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. Many members are on many many lists and when they see a subject line that reads "My Ancestors" they just delete it. 2. When posting a query regarding a surname it would help all of us if you would put your surname in CAPS. This way the members can easily pick out the surnames you are looking for. On the other hand when the entire message is in CAPS we feel that we are being yelled at. 3. Please remember to delete the tags and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 5. Remember to keep your Virus protection up to date and never open any attached file unless you are 100% sure what it is and even then you are taking a chance. 6. Now, the hardest thing is when one of our own, a fellow member becomes upset about a posting from one from one of us. It is so hard not to jump in and add our two cents. I want you to know how much I appreciate it when you just let these posting go by and delete them. Know that I am behind the scenes taking care of the problem. If you ever have a concern that I might have missed a message that needs addressed you are welcome to contact me during the day at Kathleen.burnett@era.com or in the evenings at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net. 7. If your list has the gateway open, meaning the messages posted on the board also hit he list, know that every once in a while a SPAM message that is caught by the Board filter slips through the gateway and hits the list before it can be stopped. JUST DELETE IT. By responding the the list regarding he offending message, you just continue it on, and there is not one thing I can do about it at that point. Please remember, so that this list is better for each of us, the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc., in other words Spam is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net I want to thank each of you for your continued support of me and your willingness to help make this list the success it is. It is your list and is here for your benefit. If you have suggestions or comments you would like in future reports, you only need to send them to me. 3. Dear List Members, I just ran across an interesting Website, "Courthouse Experiences" http://www.bcpl.net/~dmg/courthouse.htm Not every county is listed, but the ones listed gave helpful information regarding the attitudes of those working in the courthouses. I might suggest that if you have had a positive or negative courthouse experience you add them to this site. I now know how to prepare myself for several courthouses I want to visit later this year. 1. [MSHOLMES] Murray/Wilkerson
    2. Anne Pyle
    3. I know this is a long shot but I have to try. My ancestor Sarah Ann Watson (1835-1875) married William Murray in 1850 in Madison Co, MS. They had 3 children John B. Murray (1851), Mary A Murray (1852) Emily C. Murray (1854). William Murray died and Sarah Ann married Wiley Wilkerson and they were living in Holmes County in 1870 with the above three children and two of their own. . Thomas Wade (1866) and Sarah Ann (1869). Both Sarah and Wiley died between 1874 and 1880 (there was a land sale in 1874 listed in the one book that survived the fire). The Murray children probably married and had families, but since there are no marriage records I have no way of knowing to whom. I am hoping that someone reading this will have some information on these children Thanks Anne

    1. Re: [MSHOLMES] Wolfe in Holmes Co.
    2. Hi Betty, I'm very interested in the info on Mary Wolfe's father George Wolfe. I have info on the three siblings Mary, Solomon and some on Sarah Jane. I would love to share. The son of Mary Wolfe and James Wilkins that I descend from was William Scrivner Fitzowens Wilkins. They called him Scrivner...he and his first wife were my ancesters. I haven't been able to find out who she was. I am most interested in finding out what documentation you have that proves that George Wolfe was their father...I have been searching for this for a long time too. Thanks so much , Dolores
