    3. Hi: saw your Butler reference---My ancestors were Butlers from Georgia--Wilkes County--Benjamin Gilbert married Hannah Butler about 1770 in VA and both families moved to GA. My ancestor, Samuel Gilbert, their child, fled an unhappy apprenticeship in Wilkes Co and came "west" to Alabama with a Butler relative--or so the family story goes--I find Samuel in the Natchez Territory in 1805 marrying his second wife. Could this Butler family be any relative of yours? I have Hannah's parents, etc if you are interested.
