Rev. Mike Childs and Rev. Tom Shreve officiated. Burial was in Midway Cemetery. Mrs. Halford died Friday, April 30, in Shreveport, La. She was born Dec. 13, 1906 in Franklin County, daughter of the late John Smith and Lena Willis Smith. She was the widow of L.W. Halford and was a member of Porters Chapel (Methodist) in Vicksburg. She had taught school and been a homemaker. Survivors are one son, Wayne Halford, Meadville; three daughters Elsie Quinn of Bossier City, La., Erma Luckett of Vicksburg, and Norabeth Halford of Ocean Springs; seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------from the CLARION LEDGER, Jackson, MS, Sunday, May 2, 1993 Lela Smith Halford retired teacher SHREVEPORT -Lela Smith Halford, 86, a retired teacher, died of heart failure Friday at Piedmont Manor Nursing Home in Shreveport. Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville with burial in Midway Cemetery. Mrs. Halford, a Franklin County native, was a member of Porter's Chapel Methodist Church in Vicksburg. She was a former Vicksburg resident. Survivors include: son, Wayne Halford of Meadville; daughters, Elsie Quinn of Bossier City, Erma Luckett of Vicksburg and Norabeth Halford of Ocean Springs; and seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
