Robin, My husband's grandmother was named Mary Martha Smith but she apparently went by "Mattie". This was the name I found listed on her marriage certificate. I have been trying to locate her Smith family without success so far. The date on her tombstone says she was born Feb.15, 1876. We think, but are not sure, that her family lived in Copiah County then. She married the second time in Lincoln County, MS. Notes my mother-in-law wrote at one time indicated she thought Mattie's parents were Joseph Smith and Margaret Brooks Smith. Her siblings, according to these notes, were "Doc", Russell, Rowan, Jenny, and Louise. I have no idea if these were the correct names for her parents or siblings. Mattie supposedly had brothers who lived in Franklin County although no one I talked to in the family knew exactly what their names were. Except for the name Mattie this family doesn't seem to fit the ones you name. I'm posting in case someone else recognizes this information. Mattie married first in Copiah County, we think, Thomas Hila James. She had two children when she married Luther Ernest Bailey in Lincoln County, MS.
