Hi ED, I've been watching all weekend. I went to your webpage first but didn't find the answer to my question. Which King are you researching? I am also looking for parent and background information on a Mary Martha "Mattie" Smith who married Luther Ernest Bailey in Lincoln County. I appreciate all the help you have been to everyone on the list and I'm sure they are tickled also. Marie [email protected] ----- Original Message ----- From: "Edward J. Ed, Any Balance/Ballance names in your Civil War Database? They would have fought under the Stars & Bars, of course. Thanks, Suzanne

Jim. In case you don't have the Mavis Godbold/Col. Mesick GODBOLD genealogy published in 1966, it states [p 86]: "The parents of the following great grandchildren have not been established: Leonard Dozier Godbold, Thomas E. Godbold, John Ellis Godbold". [p 93: "John Ellis Godbold, b S.C.; about 1832 m Mrs. Rebecca Erwin Cook of AL.; came to Franklin Co. MS.; member of Bethesda Methodist Church; d about 1838. Children: Zachariah and James Francis Godbold. Stepdaughters: Sara Ann, Lucy and Catherine Cook, who m Mason Reynolds, Rowan Byrd and Stephen Martin, respectively." There is more for this family if you don't already have it. Jim Herring, Jackson MS
Thanks for all the info on the Keene Family folks! I got the right spelling from Lester Parks. Thanks to Hazel for pointing out that they might NOT be twins just born close! Hi Ann, I would love to have any information on this family that you could send me. The information I have on them is Basil Keen and his wife Elizabeth Montgomery. The names of the children all agree with what I have. I didn't have the birth dates for all of them. The Francis listed should be Frances B. Keen. I have her birth date as Feb. 16, 1849, this would not agree with her being the age of 13 in 1860. Does the census list the children as twins? They could have been born 9 to 11 months apart and still be listed with the same age, let's not rule out one being premature and survive. Frances B. Keen was the first wife of John Kenyon Miley. John Kenyon and his second wife, Matilda Caroline Johnson were the grandparents of Marion Kenyon Miley, my first husband and the father of my children. Our children are the reason I am researching these lines. John Kenyon Miley and his first wife, Frances B. Keen had nine children. He and his second wife, Matilda Caroline Johnson had 7 children. Their youngest was Philip Miley, Marion's father. I would love to hear from anyone researching these lines. Hazel Payne Miley LeBlanc The roots of our family tree were planted deep in American soil.
