    1. [MSFRANKL-L] Lists of Educable Children
    2. Fulton Harrigill
    3. Hi List, Several years ago I attended a high school reunion of Central High School, which used to be 4 miles west of Hamburg on the road to Meadville. The school no longer exists. (There will be another such reunion at the Hamburg Baptist Church, Saturday June 29 from 9am till.... Bring covered dish) Someone at the reunion had copies of lists from the office of the Superintendent of Education. These were lists of "Educable Children of Franklin County". The lists I saw were from the early 1930's. I suspect that was a State requirement and that such lists were made for counties other than Franklin. The children were listed with birth dates, names of parents etc. My inquiry is whether anyone has taken the time to put this valuable data in a form that can be shared on the net. If not, maybe someone the area of Meadville, Natchez, or Fayette could take it on as a project. I would tackle the job, but I am located in Seattle. Fulton Harrigill [email protected]

    2. Billy Lee
    3. James, Thanks for responding. According to my data, Mary Magdaline Emfinger b. March 23, 1910, d. April 3, 1962 m. in Franklin Co., MS on April 4, 1929 John R. Kiggins. Both died in CA but are buried in Vivian, LA. John was a streetcar conductor in New Orleans, LA until the family moved to CA where he worked as a furniture maker. This data came from a niece of Mary. My data on Clarence is somewhat limited, but I believe he is the same as your Clarence. His marriage to my great aunt, Clara Ionie "On" Lee was brief. She was married twice and had one child by each marriage. After her divorce from Clarence, she never remarried. 3. Sorry ED, I'm not your Aunt Marie writing under a pseudonym. LOL. I would appreciate any help on Mary Margaret "Mattie" Smith. My King is David King who came to Franklin County, MS. in 1808. So far, we have not been able to connect him with any of the other Kings around. He only had one son, also known as David King. Although I'm not your aunt, I still appreciate your work and any help you can offer. Marie Bailey [email protected] P.S. Do you have any Smith information on the Vines Smith family who were from Alabama? Their daughter, Sarah, married Thaddeous C. Ferrell about 1851. To my knowledge, this is a different line of Smiths from Mattie Smith of my earlier note. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Edward J. 2. James Emfinger
    3. There are two(at least) Clarence Emfingers in the information I have received on the Emfingers in Meadville. There is Clarence E. Emfinger and Clarence L. Emfinger. Clarence E. is the son of Henry G. Emfinger and Catherine Foy. He married Lula Foy on Sept. 8, 1906 and I don't see any children from this marriage. Clarence E. then married Lonie Foy on July 23, 1909 in Franklin County. Two children are listed from this marriage, Zelma and Roy. I said all of this only to say, that's not my grandfather. Clarence Levi Emfinger, son of William M. and Julia Ann Weatherly, was my grandfather. I do not have a date that he married my grandmother. My father, was their second child, born May 27, 1919. Grandmother was Lula Arnold(birth name Lou Lea Arnold, which she hated and never used as an adult). My mother does remember(I just talked to her in the middle of this message) that Clarence L. and the first wife divorced, and the daughter stayed with the mother. The daughter's name was Mary, and the dates are about right, but she died in Vivian, Louisiana. We are sure of this because Mother attended the funeral. So, I'm still looking, but I don't think the reference to Mary Magdaline is her.
