Is there anyone on the list researching Isham Nettle who married Sara Barker in Louisiana around 1830. I had been searching in Louisiana and Texas for this couple and noticed the messages about Nettles on this list. Martha Texas

Sue Moore, of the Jefferson Co. list, shared this link recently. The MS. Dept. of Archives & History has now indexed ALL of its manuscripts. There's a description of each, some very lengthy and detailed. You can do a search by name or by county......saw dozens of plantation names while I was there. If you've been searching for info about a certain plantation, you might be able to find out more about it here. Interesting reading even if you don't find an ancestor! Suzanne: Not sure if you recieved my last post. After recieving your post, I commented on your need to identify who you wanted to research further...To go beyond identifying source leads. I came up with records for you, but you have to go view those records and determine if they are the ones you are interested in. Did that make sence? I wish they all served together as you say in the same unit. But while it may be true of a number of them, it will not be so with all. His obit (probably from the Natchez Democrat or maybe the Frankllin Advocate) was as follows: Former Roxie Mayor Horace E. McCall Passes The entire vicinity was shocked when it was learned that death had claimed another stalwart citizen, Horace E. McCall, 73, former mayor of Roxie, who passed away Friday April 10, at Natchez General Hospital, after a brief illness, following a heart attack. Funeral services was held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, on Highway 84, east of Lucien. Rev. Allen David and Rev. B..D. Case conducted the service, with Masonic rites at the graveside. Mr. McCall served as mayor of Roxie for 12-years, was a Colonel on the staff of former Gov. Hugh White and had more than 50 years service in the Masonic Order. He is survived by five children and three stepchildren, four brothers and four sisters,; fourteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jack Seale, John F. McCall, Whit McCall, Mac Laird, B. G. Newman, J. C. Bonds and Gene Seale.

Hi, Sonya: I have the information about the eleven children of Elisha and Elizabeth Crider. I am confused, however, by the statement that your Nettles' are the descendants of Isham's son Elisha Nettles. The information I have is that he is the son of Solomon Nettles and Elizabeth Marley. Their children are shown as Elihue, Jacob, William, Jesse, Mary and John (twins), Marley, Elijah, Mourning,Isham and Martha. Now for Elisha that married Elizabeth Crider I show the children as: Mary Ann married Dixon Wainwright, Fredrick Darryl married Mary Jane Chisholm 1st, and Nancy Brown 2nd, Elijah married Lucretia Adeline Arnold, Sarah, John Walter, David C, Caroline, Elisa Frances, Emily Susannah, Robert King and Jane.
